Inlay/Onlay/Overlay

Inlay/Onlay/Overlay is one of the best tooth restoration methods available today. After the restoration, the tooth will regain its original aesthetics and function. With its outstanding advantages, this technique tends to be more expensive, sometimes comparable to mid-range dental crowns.

Inlays, onlays, and overlays are typically used when a tooth has significant decay or damage but does not require a full crown. They provide a more conservative treatment option while still restoring the tooth’s strength and appearance effectively.

Before performing the dental filling, the dentist will conduct an examination and take the necessary measurements to fabricate the filling. After that, the actual filling process takes place to restore the tooth optimally.

In general, the Inlay/Onlay/Overlay filling procedure includes the following steps:

  • Step 1: The patient reclines in the dental chair, wearing an eye protection shield.
  • Step 2: The dentist will administer a local anesthetic to numb the area partially. If necessary, the dentist will use specialized dental instruments to remove the damaged tooth structure before filling.
  • Step 3: The dentist takes an impression of the tooth to create the filling, ensuring high accuracy with the help of advanced technology.
  • Step 4: The dental impression will be sent to Khai Nguyen Lab for fabrication. During this time, the dentist will place a temporary filling to protect the tooth.
  • Step 5: Once the final filling is fabricated, the dentist will remove the temporary filling and place the Inlay/Onlay/Overlay onto the tooth. It will then be smoothed and polished to ensure both aesthetics and functionality.
