Where the session took place
This was the second of two talks Khai Nguyen held at its booth, I9-10, during the HSDI 2024 congress. The first, on full-arch implant restoration in two appointments, was given by Dr Truong Chi Bao on the morning of 14 December 2024 (see that workshop page).
In our recap post of 16 December 2024 we thanked Dr Tran Thi Ngoc Trang and Dr Truong Chi Bao for their support and noted the many questions dentists raised after the two talks.
Why digital impressions and material choice belong together
The digital impression decides what the lab can see: the finish line, the restorative space, the bite and the gingival colour. The material decides what the lab needs to see: every ceramic has its own minimum thickness and preparation requirements.
When the two are decided separately, a lab can receive a clean scan with too little room for the prescribed material, or the reverse. These articles help check both ends:
- Which intraoral scanners work with our lab: STL, PLY and DCM files, how to send from each scanner, the minimum data set and seven common scanning errors.
- CAD/CAM accuracy in the laboratory: clinically acceptable marginal gaps and where error actually accumulates.
- Intraoral photogrammetry (IPG): digital records for full-arch implants and their limits.
- Dental ceramic materials comparison and three pressed lithium disilicates compared: strength, translucency, minimum thickness and indications.
- 3Y-TZP vs 5Y-PSZ zirconia: which blank for which case.
How Khai Nguyen receives digital cases
We accept intraoral scan files as well as conventional impressions and models, and design in exocad. With a scanned case, please include the opposing arch, a bilateral bite scan, a prescription stating material and shade, and preparation photos with a shade tab; implant cases also need the implant system and scan body details. See the ordering process or message us on WhatsApp at +84 902 945 585. Dr Tran Thi Ngoc Trang has continued to work with the lab since, supporting interpretation at our seminar of 7 March 2026.
Written for dentists and technicians. Khai Nguyen Dental Lab manufactures to clinical prescription only and does not sell directly to patients.
