Self-healing to increase strength and solidity.

The high glass content of Celtra Duo (ZLS) not only provides excellent optical and mechanical properties but also offers the additional benefit of self-healing during the firing process.

During firing, when the material reaches the phase transition temperature of the glass, the glass ceramic becomes a “liquid” with high viscosity. However, it is not viscous enough to lose the shape of the restoration. Instead, the viscous glass fills in imperfections caused by the grinding process. After firing, during the self-healing phase, when the material cools to room temperature, it hardens and regains its original high strength.
